5 Party Planning Tips To Make Your Next Kids’ Party Stand Out

Kids’ party season is in full force now that the New Year has rolled around, and Corrie Mendes, expert party planner and Creator of Teak & Lace, has some great tips for making sure that your party has great photo moments and looks effortlessly pulled together.

Invites

Start here with your overall design look and carry the theme throughout your party. Paperless Post is great for tracking guest RSVP’s! You can hire a graphic designer to come up with a custom invite that you can easily upload right onto the Paperless Post website.

Custom Printed Items

Hang onto that graphic designer, because this is a great way to stand out and customize your party! Having your designer create and you print at home is a way to save money as well. Carry the graphics and logo from your invite onto the following few items:

  1. Dessert Tent Cards are great so everyone knows the cupcake flavors (or for labeling gluten free, vegan, etc,)
  2. Drink Station Sign letting guests know what to mix. If you want to offer alcohol for the parents, make sure to put that on a separate table!
  3. Activity Station Signs with instructions for the activity

Desserts

Carry your colors and graphics onto your cake and desserts! Custom bakers and even your local grocery store can print photos onto your cake. You can also find cupcake and cake toppers to go with ANY theme on Etsy.

Activities

Kids NEED activities to keep them busy (and moms happy)!! Keep them within the theme to add to your decor!

This was a tropical Bowaiian-themed (Bohemian Hawaiian) party and our daughters were into Moana! We had a “make it shiny” station which was a reflection of the crab from the movie and had Moana come entertain the kiddos.

Dress The Part

Ask the kids to come dressed for the party! For a Super Hero Party have them come as their favorite super hero OR Princess party as their favorite princess. You’ll get the best photos, and it’s a great way to add to your overall theme and decor.

For our Bowaiian party, we asked everyone to come in tropical beach clothes.

If you don’t want to ask people to come dressed, you can pass out something when they arrive, like a Flower Lei.

Happy Planning!
